CANCELLED: Live Performance by Celebration!
Mckeldin Park
UPDATE: We regret to inform you that this performance has been canceled. We hope that this is nothing more than a disappointment and an inconvenience.
----
Today, McKeldin Square intended to play host to the great Baltimore band Celebration, at a free battery-powered concert to raise awareness about the Occupy movement and help keep energy high at the encampment, now entering its seventh week in Baltimore. Earlier today, #OB participants received word from the beat cops who have been watching over the site that they received orders to shut the concert down if it began as scheduled, even in the event of the band performing without amplification. After much discussion, #OB has decided to cancel the concert, because the safety of our occupants and our supporters is of paramount importance to us, and we do not want a confrontation with the police who have, until now, been supportive of our activities.
We are saddened by the city's decision to refuse to support local independent artists in their desire to bring joy to the site of the Occupation.
Just because the concert is canceled doesn't mean we are quitting this movement, so if you were planning on coming down to McKeldin, STILL COME DOWN. We'd love to meet you!
